MIDNIGHT SUN CUP 2003
Fridays forcast said that the wind would decrease - so at 1900 we decided to bring the pilots to the start. A few had already flown at Bratten, a good place if winds are strong at Keiservarden. However, the only price won was that collected by Baard - parawaiting for 7 hours! When the wind finally calmed we were all in the social mode with a few beers and laughs. Saturday came with weather and winds as predicted, and by 1100 pilots were all over the sky. 68 entries in the cup logged numerous hours and good competition results in two heats that day. Best conditions we could expect in a cup for both beginners and oldies. Unfortunately no sun this night, so there were no new members qualified for the Midnight Sun Squadron. However, sqd commander does not grief over the loss of the baptising ceremony - pretty cold waters this year.... Sunday also gave one heat, wind a bit southwesterly so not the very best conditions to fly pylons, but nice thermals around. Price ceremony was at 1430, and after that we were ready for Lofoten, but that's another story...
