MIDNIGHT SUN CUP 2000

Our first guests for this years cup arrived already on Thursday, giving them excellent conditions both then and on Friday - until the cup opening in the evening when the rain came....

This year 35 pilots entered the competition. On Saturday we started with free flight from Løpsfjellet, a short walk and nice soaring and thermal conditions - until the alarm went, wind had turned north and competition began from Keiservarden.

Two heats were finished at 1000 pm. Then a short speech from Thor Solø introduced the 25th anniversary of Bodø HGPGK, followed by a movie with historical flashbacks from as early as the late 1970's. Barbeque, beach games and the usic video awards ceremony kept us going until 0330 am on Sunday, giving just a short sleep before the next heat. Strangely, only a few pilots competed, but that might be a result of the rules: only the two best heats count, and if you made two good ones on Saturday, Sunday was more suited for rest....?

Price ceremony started at 0200 pm followed by a rather cold and wet experience for three new members of the Midnight Sun Squadron.
